Beyond Prompts: How I Use AI as a Powerful Tool in My Music Production Workflow

The current narrative around AI and music is often binary: it’s either the end of human creativity or a magical "make song" button for amateurs. But for those of us who have spent years honing our craft, the reality is far more nuanced. AI isn't my replacement; it's my collaborator, specifically filling the gaps in my technical skillset to help me realize the vision I've had for years.

My journey into music didn't start with a ChatGPT prompt. It started with a pen and paper, long before "generative AI" was a buzzword.

The Foundation: 15 Years of Words and Beats

I began writing lyrics and poetry back in 2009, at the age of 19. For me, the emotion and narrative structure of a song have always been paramount. Two years later, in 2011, I started teaching myself the art of mixing.

While music has always remained a deeply ingrained hobby rather than a primary profession, those years were crucial. They taught me about song structure, rhythm, and the patience required to layer sounds.

However, I always faced a significant bottleneck: my voice. Despite being able to write the words and hear the melody in my head, I completely lack the vocal ability to perform them. For years, my songs remained unfinished demos or instrumentals, waiting for a vocalist that never arrived.

That is, until now.

My Creative Workflow: Human-Led, AI-Augmented

I do not believe in typing "write a sad piano song" into an AI generator and calling it my own. My process is deeply personal and still relies heavily on traditional music theory and production techniques.

Here is exactly how I compose music, integrating AI as a strategic tool within a professional workflow.

1. The Composition Starts at the Piano

Before I touch a computer, I go to the notes. Having learned to play with musical notes over the years, I compose the core melody and rhythm first at the piano (or via a MIDI controller). This ensures that the song has a strong, emotional, human foundation. I determine the key, the chord progression, and the bridge before moving forward.

2. Structuring in FL Studio

Once the skeleton of the song is composed, I move into my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), FL Studio. This is where the heavy lifting happens, utilizing the mixing skills I've been developing since 2011. I build the arrangement, program the drums, layer the synthesizers or acoustic instruments, and create the overall sonic landscape.

At this stage, the track is 80% finished, but it’s still an instrumental.

3. Solving the Vocal Problem with Mureka and SUNO

This is where the paradigm shift occurs. Instead of hiring a session singer (which is often cost-prohibitive for a hobbyist), I leverage AI vocal tools.

Tools like Mureka and SUNO have become indispensable, but not for generating entire songs from scratch. I use them as "vocal synthesizers."

I feed my pre-written lyrics (refined from my years of writing since 2009) into the tool. I then instruct the AI on the specific melody I composed at the piano, the desired vocal timbre, and the emotional delivery.

It’s about steering the technology with precision. I might generate dozens of takes for a single verse, listening for the right inflection, just as a producer would direct a human singer in a booth.

4. Post-Production and Final Mix

The raw AI vocal stems are then brought back into FL Studio. They are EQ'd, compressed, reverberated, and mixed into the track to ensure they sit perfectly within the sonic space I created. This final stage requires a human ear and a solid understanding of mixing principles—skills that AI cannot yet fully replicate.

The Verdict: Augmentation, Not Replacement

Using AI in music production makes me a more capable producer. It allows me to bypass my physical limitations (my singing voice) and bring to life the poems I wrote when I was 19, backed by the production skills I've honed since 2011.

If you are a musician afraid of AI, my advice is to stop looking at it as a threat and start looking at it as the ultimate production tool. Don't just write prompts—write music, and use AI to help you finish it.

Confessions of an Unapologetic Romantic: The Story Behind "Elrin's Rhapsody"

Have you ever felt like you're speaking a completely different language when it comes to love?

We live in an era that constantly tells us romance is a fading echo—that being intensely passionate is foolish, and that caring too much is a weakness. Love is often treated like a temporary game, a distraction to pass the time or cure a moment of boredom. When you give your absolute devotion to the world and it is met with apathy, it’s easy to feel like your depth is a flaw.

The easiest thing to do in a society like ours is to build a wall. The cynics will always tell you to play it safe: Don't trust, don't feel too deeply, don't fall.

But as I sat down to write under my pseudonym, Elrin, I realized I absolutely refuse to accept that narrative.

That is how "Elrin's Rhapsody" was born. It’s not a quiet, acoustic ballad about giving up. It is a massive, unapologetic, Symphonic Euro-Disco anthem. I wanted the music to sound exactly like what true romance feels like—grand, cinematic, bright, and completely unafraid. I chose the heavy synth bass, the soaring orchestral elements, and the dramatic 80s energy because those sounds refuse to hide in the shadows.

This song is a universal manifesto. It’s a declaration that no matter how cynical the world gets, we must not let it turn our hearts into stone. Vulnerability isn't a weakness; it's the ultimate rebellion.

To everyone who has ever been mocked for believing in fairy tales, for sending the long paragraphs, or for loving with everything they have: this rhapsody is for you. Do not let the apathetic voices convince you that your magic is a mistake.

Romance isn't dead. It’s just waiting for the right people to keep the fire burning. And as for me? I’ll remain the romantic.

Listen to the track, let the synths wash over you, and never apologize for the love inside you.

Declassifying "Strictly Confidential": The Birth of Romantic Spy-Pop

There is a unique kind of tension that exists only in the high-stakes environment of a modern landscape—the space between professional composure and a hidden, electric connection. What happens when the ultimate taboo of a forbidden workplace romance collides with the relentless, driving beats of 80s Euro-Disco?

The result is my brand-new concept album: Strictly Confidential.

This project is a 12-chapter sonic journey of adrenaline, paranoia, and magnetic pull. To tell a story this high-stakes, traditional synth-pop wasn’t enough. I had to build a new soundscape from the ground up.

Welcome to the era of Romantic Spy-Pop.

What is Romantic Spy-Pop?

Imagine the suspense of a classic espionage thriller mixed with the undeniable groove of 80s dance floors. Romantic Spy-Pop is the soundtrack to living a double life. It takes the signature elements of a spy movie and translates them into a high-fidelity musical experience.

The DNA of this genre is built on three pillars:

  • The Suspense: Stealthy staccato basslines and whispering textures that mimic the feeling of moving through shadows.

  • The Passion: Lush analog synth pads and soaring melodies that capture the overwhelming emotion of a secret bond.

  • The Escape: Blistering 120+ BPM rhythms and massive orchestral hits that sound like a getaway car speeding into the night.

A Narrative in Four Phases

Strictly Confidential functions like a film score, guiding the listener through the psychological stages of an undercover connection. Rather than focusing on specific events, the music explores the evolution of an atmosphere:

  1. The Spark of Anonymity: The story begins with the agonizing tension of everyday life. The music reflects the thrill of a shared secret in a public space—the electricity of a first look when no one else is watching.

  2. The Hidden Game: As the connection deepens, the environment becomes a playground of evasion. The BPM cranks up as the music mirrors the act of dodging observation and finding sanctuary in the freezing night air.

  3. The Noir Shift: Eventually, the tone shifts into a darker "Noir-Disco" vibe. The rhythms become heavy and rolling, capturing the paranoia of being perceived. The danger here doesn't cause a retreat; it fuels the fire.

  4. The Final Release: The climax is a triumphant exit. The joy explodes into a classic Euro-Disco anthem as the protagonists realize their world is more important than the roles they were assigned. They step out of the light and into their own truth.

Step Into the Shadows

Strictly Confidential is an invitation to break the rules of conventional pop. Whether you are a fan of classic 80s synth-wave, Italo-Disco, or just love a story of high-stakes mystery, this album is designed to pull you into its secret world.

The files are declassified. The cameras are off. Hit play, and let’s go undercover.

Step Into the Neon Light: Why "Midnight Diamonds" is the 80s Love Letter We’ve Been Waiting For

Picture a rainy street in West Berlin, circa 1985. The asphalt reflects the pink and blue neon signs buzzing overhead. A white sports car drives by, and through the open window, you hear it: a rolling bassline, a punchy drum machine, and a melody that feels like both a heartbreak and a celebration.

That feeling—that specific mix of melancholy and euphoria—is what we captured in our new album, "Midnight Diamonds."

Today, we are incredibly proud to introduce you to the world of Neon Heartbeat, a project born from a deep obsession with the golden era of Euro-disco and Synth-pop.

In a world of over-produced digital tracks, "Midnight Diamonds" dares to look back. We didn't just want to imitate the 80s; we wanted to live inside them. We asked ourselves: What made the music of Modern Talking, Bad Boys Blue, and C.C. Catch so timeless?

The answer lies in the emotion.

This album is built on the classic "Hansa Studios" formula:

  • The Heart: Minor-key verses that tell a story of longing and mystery.

  • The Soul: Explosive, major-key choruses that lift you up to the stars.

  • The Sound: Authentic Yamaha DX7 bells, lush Juno pads, and that unmistakable LinnDrum groove that makes you tap your foot instantly.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be complete without the signature High Falsetto Choirs. Those "Whoa-oh-oh" backing vocals aren't just background noise; they are the heartbeat of this record, adding that layer of angelic drama that defined a generation.

The Perfect Soundtrack for Lovers (and Parties)

We designed "Midnight Diamonds" with a dual purpose. It’s an album for the lonely drive home, but it’s also a weapon for the dancefloor.

Tracks like "Burning Like Fire (In The Night)" and "You Are My Cosmic Lady" are high-energy anthems built on a tight "four-on-the-floor" rhythm. They feature driving octave basslines and gated snares that demand to be played at maximum volume at your next party.

But we also slowed things down for the romantics.

If you are looking for that perfect, unique wedding song, look no further than "Forever Begins Tonight." We wrote this track as a testament to eternal love—starting with cathedral-style synth bells and building into a triumphant promise of forever. It’s nostalgic, it’s grand, and it’s pure emotion.

A Journey Through 12 Tracks

From the cosmic intro of our title inspirations to the grand finale, here is what you can expect:

  1. Pure Euro-Disco Energy: Fast-paced hits that remind you of the best nights of your life.

  2. Cinematic Drama: Songs like "S.O.S. From Paradise" bring the drama with orchestral hits and storytelling lyrics.

  3. The Grand Finale: The album closes with "Hold Me Now," a power ballad that transforms into a dance anthem, complete with a key modulation that will give you goosebumps.

Listen to "Midnight Diamonds" Today

The neon lights are on. The smoke machine is ready. The diamonds are sparkling.

Neon Heartbeat invites you to press play and travel back in time. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the 80s or just someone who loves a melody that sticks in your head for days, this album is for you.

The Ghost Behind the Neon: The Vision of "Forbidden Paradise"

They say a songwriter has two lives: the one lived in the daylight of logic, and the one explored through the pulse of music at night. For a time, I kept those worlds strictly partitioned. But with the arrival of Forbidden Paradise, those boundaries didn't just blur—they vanished into a haze of neon and nostalgia.

A Story That Demanded to Be Told

People often ask if the music of Neon Heartbeat is simply a tribute to the 80s. With this album, the answer is a definitive "no." Forbidden Paradise is a chronological descent into a cinematic fever dream. It is a "musical noir" exploring the magnetic pull between duty and desire—a theme that has haunted storytelling for decades.

During the composition process, I became obsessed with the tension of the "unreachable." The melodies felt less like fictional constructs and more like echoes of a universal human experience. I found myself waking up at 3 AM, driven by the need to capture that specific, bittersweet frequency where passion meets its own limits.

The Mystery of the Muse

I know the question that often arises with a concept album this intense: “Is this a true story?” My answer is this: Every heartbeat in these songs is emotionally authentic. The tension, the longing, and the eventual sense of loss weren't invented—they were channeled. Whether these chapters originated in a physical city or in the deepest corridors of a late-night imagination is a secret that belongs to the music itself.

For some, the lyrics might mirror a familiar feeling or a half-forgotten memory. For everyone else, I invite you to treat this album as a cinematic mirror. It is an exploration of the cycles we fall into—the loops of attraction, the weight of secrets, and the difficulty of letting go.

I wrote this because some narratives are too heavy to carry in silence. The only way to truly understand a haunting emotion is to give it a melody and let it play out until the final note.

Are you ready to enter the paradise we were never supposed to find?

From the Shadows of 'Metal Ghosts' to Being 'Driven by the Light'

Every road trip has a beginning, but the destination isn’t always where you expect it to be.

If you’ve been listening to the tracks on Metal Ghosts, you know the vibe. It was an album written in the passenger seat of a beautiful illusion. I wrote those lyrics—Magnetic Town, A Flash of Yellow, Phantom Lovers—fuelled by a sincere belief in a connection that felt electric. It was about two cars, one Silver and one Yellow, racing through the night, hiding in the fog, convinced that the world ended at the edge of our headlights.

I poured genuine love into those tracks. I wrote about "gravity pulling me down" and "finding treasure." It was a soundtrack for a romance that felt like a secret midnight race.

But here is the thing about driving in the dark: sometimes, what you think is a guiding star is just a reflection in the glass.

I recently came to the realization that the love story behind Metal Ghosts was a mirage. The map I was following led to a dead end. But in the world of Neon Heartbeat, hitting a wall doesn’t mean the race is over. It just means it’s time to upgrade the engine.

That realization birthed the sequel: Driven by the Light.

If Metal Ghosts was about getting lost in the fog with someone else, Driven by the Light is about turning on the high beams and finding your own way out. It is the sound of waking up.

I didn’t write this new chapter to mourn a "Yellow Comet" that burned out. I wrote it to defeat the silence that comes after the crash. I wrote it to replace depression with adrenaline and confusion with faith.

In Metal Ghosts, I sang, "Hidden in the fog, phantom lovers ride." In Driven by the Light, the fog is gone. The road is clear.

This new album is faster, harder, and brighter. It represents the moment you stop looking for validation in the rearview mirror and start looking at the horizon. It is about realizing that the "Golden Light" I was searching for wasn't in a "Crazy Little Yellow Car"—it was something spiritual, something internal, something eternal that had been there all along, waiting for me to switch on the ignition.

We are leaving the shadows of the Magnetic Town. We are no longer phantom lovers hiding in the mist. We are racing towards something real.

The heartache was just the fuel. The faith is the steering wheel. And the destination? That’s entirely up to us.

Buckle up. The real race is just getting started.

System Reset: A New Frequency for Neon Heartbeat

Welcome to the official log of Neon Heartbeat. I am Florin Gâtlan, the architect behind the soundscape, the lyricist, and the composer fueling this virtual collective.

If you’ve been following the early signals, you might have noticed a specific theme in my previous work: romance. For a long time, the "code" behind my music was written in the key of love. I wrote from a place of genuine belief, convinced that I had found a connection that transcended the noise of everyday life. I poured that warmth into every melody.

But even the most advanced systems can encounter a glitch.

Recently, I had to face a hard reality: the love I was writing about was a beautiful illusion. It wasn’t the reality I thought it was.

It’s easy to let a realization like that shut down the system. It’s easy to fade into silence. But that’s not what Neon Heartbeat is about. I am not here to mourn the past; I am here to synthesize the future.

Real life doesn’t always give you a happy ending, but it always gives you inspiration.

I realized that disappointment is a high-octane fuel if you know how to burn it. I’m taking that raw emotion and channeling it into the only thing that has never lied to me: the music.

The romantic ballads are being archived. In their place, I am turning up the BPM.

Neon Heartbeat is shifting gears into a fusion of Super Eurobeat adrenaline and Y2K Eurodance vibes. We are talking galloping basslines, gated snares, and race-car FX. Why? Because sometimes, the best way to handle a crash is to drive faster.

This project remains my passion and my hobby—a sanctuary where human emotion meets digital perfection. The "love" might have been a simulation, but the passion for the sound is real.

So, buckle up. The tempo is rising, the supersaws are sharpened, and the night drive is just beginning.

This is Neon Heartbeat. And we are just getting started.
